Education and R&D are priority areas where strategic cooperation with Israel offers significant added value. The excellence of Israeli universities and technology centres is well known, and substantial investment in innovation policies has brought the country into the group of the world's most innovative economies. Israel also takes part in European education and mobility programmes as an associate state, including ERASMUS-MUNDUS and TEMPUS, and also has a share in the funds of the Seventh Framework Programme and the European Research Council as an associate country.

Casa Sefarad-Israel manages a growing programme of activities aimed at promoting mutual understanding and the integration of academic and educational communities of both countries in the following areas:

1. Secondary education: Study trips, meetings between Israeli and Spanish students and teacher training.
   
2. Higher education: Promotion of collaboration schemes between Spanish and Israeli universities. Organisation of courses, seminars, lectures, etc. that are in line with the general objectives of CSI.
   
3. Research and innovation: Meetings between officers of Spanish and Israeli research and technology centres. Dissemination of opportunities for cooperation in the field of technology development and scientific research.
   
4. Scholarships: Establishment of a specific scholarship programme by CSI and Spanish educational and financial institutions to stimulate the internationalisation of Spanish universities, cooperation in university projects relating to innovation, the transfer of technology and the promotion of entrepreneurial culture.
